Highly Recommended

Amanda and her family are attentive hosts while being discreet. We were delighted with the house, the location and the wonderful hospitality of our hosts. We highly recommend them and will return if the opportunity arises!

A classic, quiet French holiday

Surrounded by beautiful grounds and vine yards La Flotte is the perfect French Manor House.
We stayed in Le Petit Manoir which was perfect for all the family. With a well equipped kitchen, large bathrooms, 3 good sized bedrooms and lovely features such as the shutters and a winding wooden stair case you could not ask for more.
There is plenty of activity for children from swimming in the pool to trampolining , table tennis and even a climbing frame for smaller children.
The local shops are wonderful as are the vine yards which made BBQs and eating al fresco a joy.
All in all La Flotte is a great place to relax and enjoy a quiet life in the French way and an ideal base from which to visit many sites such as La Rochelle, IIl de Re and of course the lovely beaches.
We'd love to go back!!

Peace and Quiet

Wonderful accommodation in a lovely peaceful setting. The gite was very tastefully decorated and equipped with everything required for holiday living. Fabulous pool and area to relax in beautiful surroundings. A great location, being close to beaches and countryside. Lots of nice quiet roads for cycling. Hosts Tim and Amanda couldn't have been more helpful.

A fabulous place to stay, home away from home!

We recently returned from a wonderful holiday at La Flotte Le Petit Manoir. The rustic charm of the accommodation with all mod cons was just perfect. We travelled with a 3 and 5 year old and to arrive and find we had CBeebies available was great! However, we barely watched the TV there was so much to do. Le Petit Manoir was a lovely house. Beds incredibly comfortable with nice fresh white linen, excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities. The pool was clean and the sun loungers very comfy, close enough to play area so you could keep an eye on the kids. The communal area "Le Salon" was great for socialising with our fellow guests. Amanda and Tim's honesty fridge filled with delicious wine was a bonus. : ) There are lovely beaches close by and little towns to visit. Tim and Amanda who own La Flotte were very welcoming and helpful. They are very knowledgeable of the local area and are available if you need them. Amanda was so kind, after mentioning that one of our girls had a birthday she offered to bake a cake for her. It was delicious!! We did a lot of driving during our holiday and visited lots of different places but it was always nice to drive back through the gates to La Flotte at the end of the day. We really enjoyed our holiday and if we decided to go to the same area of France again we will definitely stay at La Flotte without hesitation.

Tranquility and luxury in an old french house

We have just returned from a lovely week staying in an old french house in the Charente Maritime region of France, the Petit Manoir. The house has the peaceful ambience of an old house, with oak floors, high ceilings, shutters on the windows and huge doors. However it has been decorated and furnished tastefully inside with good quality furniture and provided with every facility that a family could need. The beds were lovely and we all slept like tops. Our party ranged in age from 7 months to 77 years and all had a really good time. We self catered and ate out in equal measure. The kitchen had everything needed to satisfy the most demanding chef. The grounds around the Petit Manoir are part of a beautiful range of rolling hills, with a lake at the bottom of the valley and the Gironde estuary close by. The boulangerie was just a 3 minutes drive to get those croissantes and baguettes for breakfast. There is plenty to do close by to suit all tastes ; walking, cycling, sightseeing, ,beaches, eating , drinking ( Cognac is a short trip away) and then to round off the hot day, a good swim in the large pool. The tranquility is broken only by the countryside sounds of larks singing, pigeons cooing and blackbirds calling, and bliss; no cockerel or donkeys at 5 in the morning!
We found it the perfect blend of peace and activity. The first day we just sat around, orientated ourselves and relaxed. Thereafter we went further afield, but in a week could only scratch the surface of all the places to visit ansd see.
The hosts, Amanda and Tim, are most welcoming, kind and helpful, without being intrusive, and were available if you need to ask them something. Amandas french is almost that of a native should you need communications assistance with bookings. They have a supply of good, tastey local wines to save you carting bottles back from the supermarket, They really want you to enjoy your stay, providing suggestions of places to see in a handy welcome briefing pack.
Whether you are one person looking for solitude and peace, a couple looking to relax , or a family wanting a good holiday, I wholeheartedly reccommend the Petit Manoir to you without reservation. We had a wonderful time and would love to return.
